Chinese Massage Therapies

At Acupuncture 2U we provide a variety of different Chinese massage techniques and therapies to complete our holistic approach to health and well being.

Cupping:

This technique is used to assist the body with circulation and soft tissue relaxation. When applying the cupping a vacuum is created, these are applied along the body’s energy pathways.

As the vacuum is created some tissue is drawn up, this is where toxins are drawn and stagnant blood from deep within the body is brought to the surface. By doing this blood flow is encouraged and muscles are loosened.

Cupping is believed to assist with back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue and migraine symptoms.

Moxibustion:

Moxibustion is a soothing therapy that heats and revitalises the body through the burning of herbal medicine. it is said that Moxibustion therapy can be dated back as far as 168 BC, which makes it one of the oldest forms of heat therapy.

Moxibustion treatments use a plant-based herb called mugwort or also commonly known as ‘moxa’. This herb is believed to enhance energy flow. It can be applied directly or indirectly by being lit and held close to the selected energy pints to aid in unblocking stagnation and reinstate energy flows.

Tui Na:

This is a form of traditional Chinese therapeutic massage that uses manipulative therapy. Tui Na, which means ‘pushing and grasping’ addresses many of the same points acupuncture does but is delivered through using manual stimulation.

Tui Na is often used in conjunction with other therapies and treatments, such as, Moxibustion, acupuncture, herbal treatments and cupping. Tui Na massage therapy is a non invasive therapeutic massage used to help treat musculoskeletal conditions.
